Here is something that i posted to avid. I don't think that they will respond. Seeing that i am not a customer and won't be one until they port there product to Linux, i can see why they would not respond to my message.

I have read on your message board and have wanted myself a port of Avid Xpress Dv to linux. However this does not look like it is going to happen. Then i ask myself "Why is Avid holding out?". You have FinalCut Pro for Macs, So many for the Windows group that there is no need to list here. Then what we have is major studios moving there animators over to Linux. Movies are being done on Linux, but where can we find a good NLE for Linux? Avid saying that they are a leader in this field should have been on that platform by now. Are they? No! Why? That is the question that i want answered. I can see that before Linux had such high usage that it would not have been profitable to port the product to Linux. But now Avid has ported the product to Mac OS X which is a BSD(UNIX) product. How much harder would it be to port Xpress DV to Linux. And to be honest don't tell me that there will be no profit in a port to Linux. Well how much profit is Avid getting off the free version of Avid Free DV that is on the website? I don't think it's the full feature version of Xpress DV? So someone had to take time to make a light version for free use? I could be wrong. What is the big hold up? The way Apple is buying up composite software and we all know that it is going to go into FinalCut Pro. Avid will find it harder to compete. But we will have loyal customers. Well you today loyalty only gets you so far. When it comes down to paying and i can get allot more software for little dollar, than your customers might just pick the other package. This message is for me Ed Mann (edmann.com) to Avid as a wakeup call. Look not only at today and the next quarter, but look down the road 1 or 2 years. See where your competitors are today and what they are doing and how that will postion them against you in the future.

I found what Category i need to put my message in. I think i will hack the code to BloGTK and just get the thing 2 work. That is the beauty of Open Source Software. You find and itch, you have the Freedom to scratch it. Maybe this will give me something more 2 do this weekend.

Okay so i made it another week. I think i will play with the opendb software this weekend. I don't have much 2 do tonight. I think i might go see Timeline. My boss has the book, but i think i will just go see the movie. It started to snow last night, and was still going when i left for work this morning. My dog has not been in my yard with snow so she kinda didn't know what to think or do. She was barking at my jeep. It was covered in snow. Kinda funny. She keep sniffing the ground where the snow started. It was not on the sidewalk, but the grass area was covered. :roll:

So i was feeling better last night and decided to play my sax, well after about an hour my throat was feeling bad again. I don't think i will play again tonight. lesson learned. I do enjoy playing the sax. It's allot of fun. I am going to add a section to my site under activities about music. I think that will be kinda cool. I am also looking for some websites that have some dances for swing music. I will post what i find on my site. I still need to get a pic of me up on the site. I don't know when that will happen. Oh well. Anyway work has been going good, been doing some php programing. I like php it's really fun to work with.

I was trying to use Blogtk to post messages to my blog, but it did not work. I posted a message to the support forum for the software and got a response back. After this post i will try the tip and see if it works.

Well i am feeling better today. I took my scanner home to hook it up to a linux box that i had at the house. The scanner has been in an office that i visit often for about 3 years just sitting there doing nothing. The setup was very easy. I went to groups.google.com and looked for advice on how to configure the Adaptec card that i had. Some simple steps were given, i did them loaded the kernel module and fired up sane, and things just worked. I scanned in some pics i hope to get them on the site here soon. I prefer digital over scanned images. I think i will start looking for a digital still camera for underwater use. :D I got a new movie today Pirates of the Caibbean. I think i might watch it tonight. I want to get my movies in a database so that my family and friends can borrow them and i can know where and who has them. I found this cool program on the net called opendb I am going to get it loaded up on my server and start entering my movies. This is going to take some time. My bro chris is gone this week so i have 2 work out by myself. I have to finish that visqueen job in the garage. My dad let me use his electric staple gun. That made the first part really easy. My dog abby did something really cool. Chris and i were going to leave and go to work monday after lunch. So when we put our jackets on Abby went and got into her kennel. I put her in her kennel so that she will not destroy my house, not that she would, i just don't know what she would do if she was left to roam the house. I think once she is a 1 1/2 2 years old i will put the kennel away and let her roam the house when i am not home. Well anyway back to what i was saying. I didn't have to tell her to get into her kennel, she just figured i guess i am going to have to go here so i might as well go now. Because of her doing that she got a treat. Talking about treats i still have some ribs in the frige that i need to eat. Abby likes getting the bones when people are done with them. I think i will have ribs tonight. I am going to have to put working on my website on the back burner for a while. I have other things that i need to work on. Well that is all for now.
