Notice the small things

21 Dec

So i was over at wallbuilders.com and noticed they had a quote from John Quincy Adams. The quote is below.

"In the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior." -John Quincy Adams 1837

Now i appreciate the things that David Barton and Wall Builders do, however most people won't notice the error in the above quote. Granted if you know me personally you will know exactly what i am having an issue with. For those that don't know me let me give you a few verses.

Luke 2:11 For unto  you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

So view the quote above and notice the change. Very simple only one letter. And some may think no big deal. I however feel it is a big deal. The reason for that is we don't like it when others change history to fit their needs, yet we do the same thing.

I searched the internet to find a scanned copy of the original speach. And i believe i did find it, over at www.classicapologetics.com which had the article and also linked over to archive.org So you can get a copy on classicapologetics.com or pick a different format on archive.org. The last paragrah on page (7 of pdf) the ORATION you will find this:

"Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birh-day of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birth-day of the Saviour?"

We need to bring the Bible to bear on the things of this world, and not those corrput book people keep peddeling as the Word of God.

2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

In reading the writtings of someone even with the spelling differences would it interest the reader in knowing why they spelled words the way they did? This word, to me, is used to point them to the Word of God for the english reading person, which is the King James Bible.

Now i know what your thinking, how do you know John Quincy Adams read the King James Bible, he could have had the Geneva Bible, or the Bishops Bible. I thought the same thing myself, and thought could i find a link between John Quincy Adams and the King James Bible. I have not yet.

The only thing i have found is that his father John Adams was involved with a National Bible Society "to propagate King James's Bible, through all Nations".  So John Adams would want to propagate it through all Nations, yet could not get those in his own house to read it? I highly doubt it.

That's all for now, i might be able to update this some other time.

Enlightenment e17 Gamma

12 Dec

So i was busy building the efl 1.7.3 for Fedora 17 and 18, did several updates to evas spec file and send a patch. evas now has cpu options turned on, and also some gl and directfb support. Also i found out that libudev is no longer in Fedora 18 it has been merged into systemd, so eeze will need a change in it. Just putting a note here so i remember to update the spec.

So after i got everything built i noticed that gamma had come out for Enlightenment 17. So i built that and updated the repos. You can check the old posts on how to get my Enlightenment 17 repo to install on your machine. I have not had many people saying that they had tested my builds. However it works for me. :-D

Also if you are using Fedora 18 you can get repo rpm with:

yum install http://www.edmann.com/Enlightenment/repo/Fedora/18/enlightenment-repo-0.0.3-1.fc18.noarch.rpm

unlike 17 in 18 there are both i386(i686) and x86_64 rpms.

Fedora 17 Enlightenment Yum Repo

29 Nov

More update for my enlightenment yum repo for fedora 17. I have created a rpm package to install the Enlightenment.repo file and also the gpg pub key. The packages are now signed and will be signed from now on.

yum install http://www.edmann.com/Enlightenment/repo/Fedora/17/x86_64/RPMS/enlightenment-repo-0.0.2-1.fc17.x86_64.rpm

I also built a new 17 test machine to test out the install and found that selinux will prevent enlightenment from starting up on the initial startup. I put it in permissive mode and it was able to start. I put it back to enforcing and it worked fine, then restarted with it in default enforcing and i was still able to get into e17.

In other news i am also bulding 386 and x86_64 machines for Fedora 18. I will post the info on how to install them when i am done, only for those wanting ot test the Fedora 18 beta.

Enlightenment e17 Alpha6

27 Nov

I built the new Alpha6 of enlightenment e17. You can use the yum repo to update to it. Also i have been working on learning how to get the Enlightenment Foundation Libraries along with e17 into Fedora. But until then if you want a quick and easy way to use enlightenment you can get it from the repo i have mentioned before.

Note:

If you can't get the update and you have used the repo before do a yum clean metadata then update enlightenment. Also make sure that you update e_modues-engage as well, that is if you are using it.

Other than that not much to report.

Enjoy.
